Lake Dallas/Copper Canyon

The residents of Lake Dallas and Copper Canyon tend to enjoy the simpler pleasures of city parks and other natural recreation sites. Lake Dallas offers three park sites and the Lakeview Marina. City Park is used mainly for special events and youth soccer games. Community Park is home to the local library and community center. Willow Grove Park is a lakeside retreat used for baseball games, as well as picnicking and exploring. In Copper Canyon, Pilot Knoll State Park is used for camping, boating, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding.

Community groups are also a popular way to have fun and socialize. Lake Dallas and Copper Canyon residents looking to meet up with others who have similar interests can contact the Greater Lewisville Newcomers’ Club. The organization sponsors activities and trips, organized around a variety of special interests. Examples include antiques, literature, card playing, and gardening. Activities are open to all residents, whether or not they’re new to the area.

The Greater Dallas/Fort Worth region provides area residents with a diverse range of things to do. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the array of historic and art museums and ballet, symphony and theater groups. Professional sports play an important role in the local culture, as fans cheer on the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. The Texas Motor Speedway is located 20 miles west of Copper Canyon, and Lone Star Park, an established horse racing facility, is in nearby Grand Prairie.
